History of Forbo Siegling (UK) Ltd.
Ira Stephens founded the company in 1919 under the name of Ira Stephens Ltd., initially supplying leather products, including leather belts to the textile industry in Lancashire. Then after World War 2 Wilfred Stephens, Ira's nephew, was working in Germany as part of the military government where he met Ernst Forbo Siegling.
Ernst Forbo Siegling explained the properties of his new Extremultus belt which was superior to anything that was available on the continent, Wilfred Stephens then offered to become an agent for Forbo Siegling. Over the years the company, run by several generations of the Stephens family and fuelled by the introduction of Transilon belts and extended Extremultus product range, has dramatically
increased its product portfolio and technical expertise whilst maintaining its relationship with Forbo Siegling.
In October 1999 Stephens Miraclo Extremultus Ltd. had outgrown its old premises in Dukinfield and moved 2 miles down the road to a purpose built Head office. Then in 2002, Forbo Siegling cemented their 50 year relationship with Stephens by purchasing the company to officially become Forbo Siegling's UK subsidiary.
